What is the correct name for this cosmetic surgery procedure? Hello everyone! I have made a (rather badly drawn) diagram of the before and after of the procedure (for a male face); http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/7803/malefaceqy3.png The procedure usually takes around 3 hours to complete, 3 years of dental work is usually required beforehand. In 'my words', it's makes the bit between the bottom of your nose and the top of your chin come forward, this creates a more masculine looking effect. I have completely forgotten what the doctor called it and was wondering if anyone knew. Many thanks for your help!

Cosmetic surgery while on vacation with your child? During the first 6 weeks of summer, my hubby's ex-wife has custody of our oldest daughter. She is allowed to take her out of the country for up to 2 weeks during that time per the custody agreement. She is Peruvian and has family there that our daughter sees every 5 years or so. This summer while they are visiting the mother plans on reversing a few cosmetic procedures she had done. My husband and I feel that this is ridiculous because with any surgery there is a risk factor. What if something happened to her? What if the surgery went wrong? Cosmetic Surgery not really helping meet better guys? I'm 27 going on 28 and have had trouble meeting men who meet my level of standards, I'm college educated with a masters degree, I have a very good income level and for a long time I wondered why I couldn't meet the right kinds of guys. For a while I felt like perhaps my appearence was part of the problem though my friends and family told me it wasn't. Well, I've had a few cosmetic procedures done and it's been almost a year since I've had work done and I'm not really having any better luck. I've tried dating sites, personals, being set up by friends and nothing really works, I haven't had a "serious" relationship since I was 19 and have had numerous bad experiences meeting people. Some have said that perhaps my standards are set too high on the kinds of men I'm willing to meet (this is in part due to some bad past experiences). Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I should do to change my approach? It was just minor stuff involving my nose which wasn't completely straight, it wasn't SERIOUS cosmetic surgery but I had the idea in my mind that it was part of the problem.

Is cosmetic surgery getting out of hand? Everyone has issues with their bodies, including me, and I do believe that some need it and are entitled to it. But why should relatively normal and healthy people be allowed to have it just because they have money, or can borrow money, to pay for it? I would also question the ethics of the people who perform these procedures for profit and the minds of people who go through this to massage their egos and tend to their own vanity. Orthognathic surgery vs. cosmetic options? I'm contemplating orthognathic surgery as well as some other orthodontic and cosmetic procedures. I have an underbite (class 3 malocclusion) and am missing a tooth (was just born without it) so as a result, I also have spaces in my top teeth. I'm also looking into veneers to correct the size and shape of my teeth. My concern is more cosmetic (dental implant, invisalign to fix the spacing, and veneers on almost all my top teeth). However, I'm concerned about not fixing my bite via the corrective surgery before i begin the process. I've seen orthodontists and cosmetic dentists, and was wondering what options anyone with similar issues have pursued? Anyone with experiences with invisalign to correct an underbite, or the jaw surgery? Also, I'm having a hard time convinving my HMO to pay for the surgery. Should I just go for the cosmetic changes? Affordable Cosmetic Surgery? Every human that lives will suffer from the effects of aging. Cosmetic surgeons can not stop the sure and certain death that aging brings, but they do have the power to slow down the systems of aging. Note to some: Having cosmetic surgery does not make you plastic(most procedures remove not add) and it doesn't mean you don't like yourslef, but means you want to be the best you can be. I have done a lot of reading online about various procedures, and from what I have read, most should be very easy for a trained doctor. Yet the prices for all of it are just insane!!! Are there any doctores that charge a price that the average working person can afford? If not, why not? Charging less would help so many people!!! From what I have seen online, the cost are about 5 times what they should be!!! The way it is now, rich people get to live, poor people just get to work, get old and die!!! Having cosmetic surgery does not mean you do not like yourself, as the outward self is not who you are. Having your breasts enlarged is no different, than having a mole removed. I like who I am as a person, but at the same time I would like to make change to the outer shell so I can simply look better. It is true nothing about who I am will change, but I would look better in a swim suit. I find it silly to not change things you can change. In this day and age it does not make sense to accept things about yourself that you do not like as they are too easy to change. To elaborate, blepharoplasty is a procedure to reshape the outlines of the eye, whether its the upper or lower eyelid. Cosmetic surgery to hide dimple on chin? I have a weirdly shaped chin and was trying to find out what sort of procedures may help my appearance. My chin receeds slightly. It is weirdly shaped because I have a pretty deep dimple and so it looks as if my chin is a doughnut of flesh with eveything around it receeding. Whats more is that it is not quite symetrical either. I also have a double chin that appears quite easily depending on the position of my head/jaw/neck, which is weird since i'm a very skinny girl, I should have a better defined jawline. Did you find a girlfriend (or boyfriend) once you finally became confident with your appearance? Or did you develop confidence as a result of successful cosmetic surgery?
Would the military pay for cosmetic surgery for a spouse? My friend is considering getting breast implants. Her husband active duty military ( Air Force). It doesn't look like the military will pay for her breast implants, but is it possible that she can get a lower rate? I guess if her hubby wanted some form of cosmetic surgery it would be paid for, but she doesn't think look like she would be covered. Couldn't she just go to a base doctor and pay a lower rate for the procedure? I'm asking because, if she can find an affordable way to get the implants, we're getting them together! :) Any military info anyone? Thanks Omg, don't you people read the entire question? The military does pay for cosmetic surgery for active duty members, so if you're peeved by that fact, take it up with someone else. And I will be getting my new boobs regardless, it's my friend that may need to come up with a different outlet. Does anyone have any information that I don't already have? Thanks
Pro bono cosmetic surgery? Is anyone aware of any cosmetic surgeons in the Atlanta, GA area who do certain procedures pro bono (or at least at a reduced rate)? I don't mean totally superficial stuff (face lifts, nose jobs, etc.), but surgeries to remove excess skin after having gastric bypass surgery.
