If a plastic surgeon isnt a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, does that mean hes bad?
I met with this plastic surgeon that has been in the business for 30 years, and seemed like he knew his stuff. I felt confident in him. But after doing some research I noticed he wasnt a memeber of the ASPS...

- NO - it means he didn't pay any dues to belong to an organization that he can say he belongs to for no really good reason. His work should speak of itself. Ask to speak with current and former clients.
- A lot ENts (earns nose and throat doctors) are surgeons, and not members of the ASPS - why - they are NOT plastic surgeons. They still fix noses on occassion
- It is most important that the plastic surgeon is BOARD CERTIFIED. Many of the medical organizations are nice to be a member of, but membership is based on dues and is not an indication of certification or ability.
- I would not let a plastic surgeon touch me if he was not board certified. End of story. I would not use the term bad but he must be certified to be reasonably sure he can do the work without you being very sorry.
