Why do homosexual men take an interest in stopping circumcision in newborn boys?
The Parents, Family members and Family friends don't seem to take such an interest in being against circumcision as much as gay men and do take interest in more important, life-threatening issues in the care, treatment and well-being of Mother and child than gay men so why do gay men oppose a very common practice that has very few fatalities and though circumcision may be a pointless and unnecesary cosmetic amputative surgery for when there are more important issues that need taken care of and that need everybody's attention have no meaning for gay men! Why a silly cosmetic amputative surgery and not health care and poverty issues???

- I do not think this is true for only gay men. I am a heterosexual woman, opposed to forms of male and female circumcision. They're quite different, and the male version is not harmful over the long term (reduces transmission rate of HIV, actually). But both have been done over the centuries for the wrong reasons (culture/religion), and I do not think most male circumcisions are necessary. I'm not sure why gay men take particular issue with this practice. Maybe they recognize that it is a rather cruel procedure to perform on a newborn's body?
- I have never heard of a gay "cause" against circumcision.
- Posting a question more than once is spamming. I've never heard anything like this before, so you should add a "not" to your avatar name.
- uh, I don't care one way or another if a child gets circumcised, that's not my problem.
- Why do *lesbians* take an interest in stopping the circumcision in newborn boys? I am a lesbian, and no matter what the dictates of your religion, this is a human rights issue. The circumcision of an infant is this: cutting a piece of it's penis off(!) without the childs consent. Obviously, a baby is unable to tell you that it doesn't want you cutting on its genitals without a good reason. Older children are vulnerable, and shouldn't be allowed to say that they want someone to cut on their genitals, because they haven't got good judgement yet. Only those 18 years and older should be allowed to tell a doctor/surgeon/mohel that they want their genitals cut on. The practice may have some value in preventing urinary tract infections in infants, but it is not enough of a preventative to justify using it as such. Circumcision of infants/children should only be allowed in cases where it is required for TREATMENT of a condition, not as a means of preventing a condition. Inflicting intentional damage to a child's genitals, no matter how slight it seems, is a human rights violation, and should be seen as such. No one is saying that an adult shouldn't be able to have a circumcision. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Reimer
- They feel that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
- I am not a Gay man, I am a Lesbian Mom, and I was not aware of the fact when my two eldest boys were born that an infant has no clotting factor at that early age. Therefore, my 3rd and 4th sons are not circumcised, but can choose to change that when he is of the age to make that decision. It was purely for health reasons.
- just because there might be issues that seem more important does not take away from this issue. we are talking about a religious ceremony that robs men of part of their identity. http://www.circumcision.org/ ♂♂
- The answer is in your question. One word. FATALITIES ! It seems that almost every nerve ends there. How would you like to die from the pain there because some idiot decided you were born with something you didn't need ? Its barbaric. I'm straight !
- Uhm well first it's not just gay men that do it. Gay men take on a lot of causes. But there's one really good and simple reason, we're MEN! We have penises, and that makes us opinionated, moreso than women who lack them and do not undergo circumcision at birth. So it has nothing to do with sexuality, and everything to do with the fact we're MEN. Talk to any man, he'll have an opinion on the topic, gay or straight. This isn't a gay issue, it's a male issue, think outside the box dude.
- It has nothing to do with being gay... though it's possible that some gay men are outspoken about the issue. The real issue comes down to this..... **A person circumcised as a child has 30% less sensitivity.** If you are uncircumcised, and you want to be circumcised, you can make that choice for yourself as an adult. It doesn't work the other way around. Even if you go through foreskin reattachment... you still have lost sensitivity, it doesn't look the same... and the foreskin tends to dissapear when erect... so it's only a "soft look" I personally regret my parents robbing me of making the choice for myself. ** In response to a couple of other answers.... The person who said many gays get "more circumcised" to make the skin tighter...huh?!?! what a croc... no basis for that whatsoever... and as to the medical benifits of reducing urinary tract disease.... if you teach you child how to properly pull back his foreskin and clean under it like he should... that won't be a worry!!!
- Circumcism has became common practice in America due to the large influx of Jewish doctors and medical professionals in the early-middle part of the 20th century. Soon medical journals everywhere touted the health "benefits" of circumcision, and it's become so common nowadays you specifically need to opt out of it when having a child today. I'm not being Anti-semitic, that's simply how it is. I don't think it has anything to do with gay-straight.
- Boy are you ****** up. Penis cutting is very often a gay fetish. Many gays (as indicated in pro-circ blogs) prefer cut and the tighter the better. Many have had theirs re-done to get tighter. In many cultures circumcision is a totally gay thing. Intactivists are heterosexuals, mothers, fathers, grandparents, and even some homosexuals. They are not just a bunch of gays, but rather a mix of people that see a terrible wrong being done to baby boys and want it to stop, just like they got female mutilation stopped in this country. Maybe if we stop mutilating our baby boys and invest that money instead in their education, those bright new minds could come up with solutions for all those greater causes.
- Because foreskin is a wonderful thing, many straight men are too pu$$y-whipped to say anything, and "very few fatalities" is not few enough.
- are you kidding me!!! I'm gay and am 100% for circumcising boys. It's for their own good. Circumcision is better for infants it prevents against urinary infections, and kids don't know how to clean gross filth from under the skin. People who are against circumcision are loosers!
