Why do women dress to arouse men?

Some women's self cofidence gets stronger with each man she can arouse with her physical appearence (sexy clothes, glamourous makeup, cosmetic surgery, etc). Sometimes it is like a game to see how many men will stare at her in a public place. The more heads she turns the more empowered she feels. If we have learned to value our selves as women, why do we need to sacrifice our desency to feel empowered? Thanks for all the answers so far. A lot of good points from different angles. Please note that I am not referring to all women or women without any natural beauty (do such women exist?). I am referring to the ones who groom their physical appearence with the whole-hearted intention of arousing men (any man who sees her). Why do they need to sacrifice their desency to feel empowered?

1. Because they crave any kind of attention from guys and will do anything to get it. Some women know that men like sex and they use their sex appeal as a weapon, so to speak. What they don't realize is that the guys who are ogling them are only interested in the sex and not the woman. I think this is a Women's Studies category issue and will be much better asked and answered there.

5. First of all, not all women dress in sexy clothes to impress men. Some women do, but some women dress sexy for theirselves because they feel sexy (and that's okay). I'm not sure if you're talking about women in general, women you know, or women you see doing this...but, not all women dress for show. Some women dress in sophistication and that is more sexy than dressing sexy. A sophisticated look, to me, is more sexy and beautiful than any kind of look. Women are empowered if the feel confident enough to feel empowered and if dressing sexy helps them do that...then that's okay. There are still those women out there who have self value who don't overdress...show TOO much skin...wear so much make up and such...The best beauty is natural beauty...

7. Well asha not everyone thinks intellectually like you. For most physical appearance is everything. But some like me & you feel inner beauty is more valuable than external one.Happy to see girls like you still exist .
8. A woman with a postive body image and self confidence is always going to attract a man. This can be done in a sweat suit or business suit and a real woman will look good in both. I wear business suits to work every day and can grab the attention of every man as I walk down the hall. I dont want nor need their attention and this what attracts them to me. Some of the responses that i read seem fueled by jealousy and lack of self esteem.

Personally speaking and I'm thinking about those women who will stoop to the lowest level to GET that attention from the opposite sex....i guess its always been the oldest trick in the book. Beauty is skin deep but then agin these days its more of Beauty is only SILICON deep...and I think it should be brains before beauty.

12. In my opinion its more of a peer pressure, or a new trend going on in today's society. The term modern being associated with how a person dresses, but in fact it actually comes the way an individual thinks.

18. I think it is individual taste. I observed once in a store one mom is trying to convince her daughter to buy mini skirt and top. The Girl is very shy saying no but the mom tells her it will look nice on her. Good for men too to watch some butterfly on the street. To be frank with you men will like to watch these women.
