Concerning eyelid surgery?

I have puffiness under my eyes and somewhat loose skin above. I have reasearched eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), but the examples they show are not giving me that good of an idea what to expect. I am only 35, and many if not most of the pictures are of 60+ year olds. Also, I want to go to a good surgeon. Does anybody have experience with this? I live Nebraska, which isn't exactly a cosmetic surgery hot spot. I'm willing to travel, but it would be nice if I could drive.

  1. the reason most of the pics are of older people is because loose eyelids is a complication of cataract surgery. i know this cuz my mom had both surgeries. her insurance paid for it because it wasn't considered cosmetic but medical because it was interfering with her vision. i know she always looked tired but after the procedure she looked 100% better.
  2. the first thing to do when considering cosmetic surgery is to find a qualified, experienced plastic surgeon who is board certified in plastic surgery. he will have pictures of his previous patients and those pictures can give you an idea of what he can do for you. if you don't feel confident that he can do a good job, find another surgeon. some plastic surgeons prefer not to post their patient's pictures on their website since they want to preserve their patient's privacy. you may get them to send you some pictures by email though. if you are on a budget, you may also consider medical travel to other countries, but always check on the credentials of the surgeon and make sure he is board certified in plastic surgery. in asia, plastic surgeons often do blepharoplasty on younger patients who want to have double eyelids.
