What is eyelid surgery like?

I am going for eyelid surgery on my left eyelid for congential ptosis. What is it like? What should I expect?

  1. no dont do it. i know a woman who did, shes now blind..
  2. I think it is pretty uncomfortable, my uncle had it and was pretty miserable for awhile but it was necessary, good luck
  3. My grandma had it down because it was obstructing her eyesight. She was kind of sore but other then that she was fine. Good luck and dont worry you will be fine.
  4. eyes wide shut but openened closed!
  5. I've had it. Its general anesthesia surgery, so you the last thing you will see is the anaesthesiologist injecting you, and you will wake up with an eyepatch. You will have stitches which will have to be removed in a few weeks. Its kinda freaky when the stitches get removed because its an unnatural feeling to have thread pulled out of your eyelid. The only thing you have to do is be careful with the eye, it may dry out so keep drops, and don't touch it or it might get infected and you may end up with a stye or a chalazion and thats painful and embarassing (big swollen eyelid is nasty looking).
