Is 21 too young for blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)?

Im only 21 years old (caucasian) but I already have droopy upper eyelids that make me look sad and tired, and it is more pronounced in one eye. It seems to run in my family, and if my relatives are any indication, it wont be long before my eyelids are covering my eyes :S I've done some research, but I cant find any pictures of people my age getting this done. Is it possible to get blepharoplasty at my age? And even if I do get the surgery, will the problem get worse as I get older anyway, in which case will a second blepharoplasty be needed/possible? Please, only serious answers, no "surgery is a waste of money" or "learn to accept the way you look" comments, this is a serious question. Thanks!

  1. I'm 21 and I've considered it... I'm white and I have small eyes and look asian. I would do it, I don't think you're too young As for the future, who cares you'll be old anyways
  2. No, not if it is reasonable, and you don't expect your whole life to change because of the surgery-- there is nothing wrong with a surgery that will make you feel better, look better and be more comfortable with yourself-- doesn't have much to do with age, but with personal needs and beliefs-- You have to do what feels right for you.
  3. I would say best if you ask a doctor about it. We can't really provide safe and accurate answer without personal and private information, because we don't have any claim to support our point of view.
  4. I'm not sure if you mean droopy eyelids or droopy eyelid skin. Either way, you need to consult with a reputable occuloplastic surgeon, not just a regular cosmetic surgeon. It might help if you had a picture of exactly what you are talking about because then I could give you some more information.
