What is your experience with having eyelid surgery?
I am having surgery on my upper eyelids in about a month. I wanted to know how long will the bruising last and if I will be presentable to go outside within a week. Any experiences would be helpful.

- An absolute eye-opener, I tell you.
- i hope you have a good surgeon because a friend of mine had it and her eyes came out looking so umm weird. good luck!
- I had eyelid surgery 4 times. Mine wasn't for cosmetic reasons - I was born with a droopy eyelid and it needed to be fixed. I agree with the above comment - the surgeon is everything. It took me 4 tries to get it right. As for the recovery - a week is a bit short. I didn't have any bruising the next day, but the second day it started. It lasted closer to two weeks. Lots of vitamin C can help speed that up. Good luck!
- The average period of bruising for those who have Blepharoplasty is normally 1-3 weeks. If you re to go outside you must wear sunglasses for the weeks to follow your surgery. You will be able to go home the same day as your surgery and you should expect your eye lids to feel tight, sore, dry, and swollen. For a few weeks after your surgery you will experience changes in blurriness and sensitivity to light. Many surgeons will recommend the following as ways to help your healing process. You should keep your head elevated and avoid bending down, including while you sleep. Many will provide you with an eye patch to prevent you from bumping your eyes into anything while you sleep. You should also apply a cold compress to your eyes and apply eye drops periodically. You should also be told by your surgeon how to wash your face and eyes, as to not disturb the work that was done, and you will also be told when you can begin to wear makeup again.
