- Your relative needs to be directing these questions at his Doctor. It is not wise to take advice on such serious issues here.
- There's no such thing as a risk-free surgery. Things happen, even with the best surgeon available. Things happen during surgical procedures that nobody thought would. Or could. Your relative should discuss every risk of this specific procedure with a competent, trusted physician. There may be less invasive ways to deal with the issue. Safer ways. Manageable ways with fewer risks than surgery. Encourage a visit to such a doctor for realistic information. Then, getting a second [or third] opinion, in this case. All surgery includes various risks. Risks are unavoidable in the best of circumstances.
