- It is called plastic surgery because the word 'plastikos' in Greek means 'to shape or to mould'. It has nothing to do with the material, plastic. HTH : )
- Probably because one of the first forms of plastic surgery for beauty purposes would have been a boob job and they'd be refering to the implants? Just a guess.
