Celebrity Plastic Surgery? Desensitizing Severity? Out of Control?
Everyone seems to be doing it now, not just celebs... "Normal" girls are requesting to "Throw some of D's on em.." for their 18 birthday! So is celebrity plastic surgery an influence in this? Is celebrity plastic surgery desensitizing the extremity of slicing and dicing?

- I think celebrities add to it because there are people who are influenced by them and even some who wish to look like them. I hear that the largest requests are from women who want to have Angelina Jolie's lips, Jennifer Lopez's butt, etc. I also think that you can't place the blame solely on celebrities. They don't all have surgery done. The truth is that whether people like it or not, the U.S. has a very image conscious and excessive culture. The cosmetics industry makes billions off of women who want the "perfect" look, and there will always be people who feel that their lives would be better if they had larger breasts, a smaller nose, whatever. I think it is more of an issue of self confidence than anything else. If I may go a little off topic, I would like to commend you for posting an intelligent question that you seem to have put thought into. I have been questioning the intelligence of some of the users on here lately and you have reassured me that there are still smart people on here. Thanks.
