How do we reverse the trend and give women back their confidence?

In a recent question about cosmetic surgery, it was pointed out to me that in some places the issue of class is used as a marketing ploy. And now different ethnic groups are being targeted, partly with this issue, to increase business. Why do women(and even men these days) of any social standing need a "quick-fix" solution when sometimes all they need to do to solve their body problems is get fit and lead a healthier lifestyle? Also, breasts are for feeding babies. The reason they're attractive to men is natures way of ensuring they have a chance to serve this purpose. If you don't have big ones you're going to look slimmer and be attractive to men. If you do have big ones you can use them to attract a good man who prefers big ones. So why the need for change? Also botox is made from one of the most poisonous substances known to man. Is our idea of beauty getting ever more perverted?

Public Comments

  1. yes. this has already been mentioned. everyone knows what to do to change, our society is just too lazy and too greedy to change. dont worry, the world will end in 20 years.
  2. its too late. "once they go vain, it wont be the same." too much emphasis on the perfect body, hair, face, clothes, etc. has been placed on women by various media outlets. and its too late to just change and say "oh, its whats inside that counts." sad, but true.
  3. It is because our society has made it so skinnier people with big boobs are more attractive, even if a lot of men don't prefer big boobs or whatever. Women think that they have to look perfect and therefore get plastic surgery done... just be happy with who you are!
  4. Forget society. It starts when we're young. Our parents should teach us from day 1 that we are beautiful. Confidence starts at home. Your mom may have never told you that you looked fat, but I'm sure she has said something indirectly to imply that you needed to lose weight. My mom always made a comment that my breasts were too large. Not to mention that we need to teach children not to believe everything they see, hear, or read. Society isn't raising our kids and television isn't meant to be a babysitter. If parents don't teach their children to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to society, the people that don't matter, and the media then we'll have a new generation of 21 year olds wearing 50 lbs and thinking they're fat.
