What do you think about cosmetic surgery?
I'm considering having some plastic surgery - not for the purposes of losing weight or significantly changing my appearance - but, because I'm 36, and things aren't as "perky" or "tight" as they were before having three children (and, exercising doesn't seem to change this either)!! What are the pluses and minuses of boob jobs, tummy tucks, a little liposuction, etc? Also, does anyone know approximate costs of these elective surgeries by a REPUTABLE surgeon (no inexpensive butchers, thank you very much!). Is it normally cheaper to do everything at once?

- don't do it. eat well (healthy food-pyramid, low cholesterol/low sodium style) and put some working out into your schedule and you CAN be tight again. think if you ran every day the tone you can get, along with health benefits! plastic surgery is artificial and an easy way to get affect. go the healthy way :)
- Go for it....
- I'm 30 & have had 2 c-sections. I don't mind my chest, although it's not perky I do fill out a C & w/ breast cancer in my family I will let that one slide.....but a tummy tuck or mini-tuck.... I WOULD LOVE!!!! Stretch marks and extra skin just aren't pretty. I'm in AZ & it would cost $8,000 - $12,000 for a full abdominoplasty. It can be somewhat pricey here. I almost guarantee you'll get some answers suggesting surgery in India or overseas.....cheaper - but scarier. I saw a scary thing on 20/20 about it & I'm happy to just pay extra for a board certified doc. It's only cheaper all at once b/c of hospital fees & anesthesia fees.
- boob jobs are usually 3,500 for a set :p thats all i know :] sorry i couldnt help more good luck!
- I'm just an average guy and so I don't really know much about the cost of a boob job or the potential health risks nor the effect on the female psyche. What I do know is that I've dated some women who have had this elective surgery, both above and under the muscle. They look great but they feel awful to touch and well, you know. From this man's perspective don't do it. Mr. Whipple never recommended Charmin because it looked good, rather because it was squeezably soft.
- Boob Job (Breast Augmentation) is a very popular cosmetic surgery procedure. As of 2006 about 329,000 people had breast augmentation. This is done to increase the size of the breast. Many women who have been through child birth elects to have this surgery as pregnancy, breast feeding and age can result in a loss of breast tissue. In addition women who would like a more youthful figure or would like to enhance their curves will have augmentation done. Pros: Improved physical appearance, and a boost in self esteem Risks: Infection, Capsular Contracture, Implant Rupture/Deflation, Implant Migration, Rippling and Contour Irregularities, Bottoming Out, or the "Double Bubble". Tummy Tuck (Abdominiplasty) is done to remove excess skin and fat and tightening the muscle which will ultimately result in a slimmer and more toned look. A protruding or sagging abdomen can be the result of pregnancy, obesity, age and/or rapid weight loss. Pros: Results in a more youthful appearance, removes excess fat and skin, and can strengthen and reposition muscles. Risks: Infection, Tissue Necrosis, Thromboemboli, or Loss of skin sensitivity. Liposuction removes unwanted or excess fat from a specific area of the body. Pros: Helps to reduce the fat concentration which can lead to enhanced self-esteem Risks: Fat and Tissue Necrosis, Lidocaine Toxcity, Tromboemboli, Fat Emboli, Pulmonary Edema, Punctures, Fluid Shifts and Blood Loss To learn more about each procedure that you are interested in I would recommend each of these sites respectively for breast augmentation, tummy tuck, and liposuction: http://www.newimage.com/cosmetic-plastic-surgery/breast/augmentation-overview.aspx, http://www.newimage.com/cosmetic-plastic-surgery/abdomen/tummy-overview.aspx, http://www.newimage.com/cosmetic-plastic-surgery/arms-legs-thighs-buttocks-hips/liposuction-overview.aspx.
